Once the hottest actor in Hollywood for his lead role in The Matrix, Keanu Reeves is not only a household name, he is a certified cinema icon. It seems like he has it all, the money, the fame and the third installment of his recent blockbuster, John Wick, is currently enjoying rave reviews in the box office. So, you can imagine our surprise when The Jakarta Post published an article aptly titled ‘Keanu Reeves Says He Is a Lonely Guy’ a few days ago .
The article was based on a John Wick: Parabellum press interview which contained more than one instance of Keanu Reeves saying he is a lonely guy. During the interview, he was allegedly asked to explain what the word “love” meant to him. Keanu’s answer was “You mean romantic love? You know, I’m the lonely guy. I don’t have anyone in my life. But if it does occur, I would respect and love the other person; hopefullsy it’ll happen for me.” .
He was also asked about his role in The Matrix, his passion for motorcycles, and his self-image as a lonely guy to which he replied, “I don’t concern myself with it that much. I’m an actor, so in terms of what you’re asking about, I have no answer.” The interviews ended with a few questions about his love for music.
This interview seemed out of character for the actor who is notoriously known for his reluctance to divulge private information during interviews. He was once quoted saying “I don’t feel I have any obligation to share my private life with people who enjoy my work.” Apparently, Keanu Reeves was as surprised about the story and has since distanced himself from it.
“Stop saying that”
A few days after the story went viral, his fans took to social media to show their love and support. However, a rep for Reeves immediately put out a press release saying that the entire story was “fabricated.” The rep stated that “This interview was pieced together from several interviews and did not happen the way to was presented. The majority of these questions were fabricated.”.
This did not stop people on Twitter from tweeting about the fake quotes with many saying that they’d gladly be Keanu’s plus 1. However, for a well-known (and respected) guy like Keanu, not to mention rich; getting a date is the least of his problems. His reputation of the “nicest guy in the world,” seems to be working for him as “Destination Wedding” co-star Winona Ryder recently revealed in a sweet interview that she still has feelings for him.
Could be, could be not
The two stars have shared quite a history together including the 1992 film “Dracula” where they supposedly got married by a real Romanian priest. “We actually got married in ‘Dracula.’” Said Ryder. “In that scene, [director Francis Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest, we shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”.
