Ariana Grande is a big fan and supporter of Jim Carrey. Recently, on her Instagram stories, she shared a series of black and white photos of the actor. On April 20th Grande opened up about her admiration of Jim Carrey. She shared that “my first AIM username was jimcarreyfan42 when I was in like 4th grade”.
Ariana also shared some of Carrey’s quotes about depression that she says have helped her in her journey.
The quote from Carrey is, “Depression is your body saying, ‘I don’t want to be this character anymore. I don’t want to hold up this avatar that you’ve created in the world. It’s too much for me. You should think of the word ‘depressed’ as ‘deep rest.’ Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character that you’ve been trying to play.”
Under another image of Carrey, Ariana wrote: “The whole LOML (Love Of My Life) forever.”
In another post depicting the star of Ace Ventura, she wrote: “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.”
Carrey responded warmly to her adoration and attention. He reached out to her via Twitter and said “I read your lovely mention of me and things I’ve said about depression. A brilliant teacher and friend, Jeff Foster was OG on the ‘Deep Rest’ concept. I admire your openness. I wish you freedom and peace. I feel blessed to have such a gifted admirer. Happy Easter!”
The 25 year old star posted about meeting the star briefly in 2014 on her Instagram. She recently headlined Coachella.
Ariana has taken to social media to express her battles with mental illness and also about the artistic process. She wrote that making art is healing, but it can be difficult to relive the emotions each time she performs the piece. She also wrote via Twitter: “i just feel empty and i wanna have more to say / better energy to give to u and rn i don’t have anything. love u. “
When Carrey reached out to her via Twitter, she was excited.
She replied with, “thank u so much for your kindness. don’t think u understand how much i adore u or what u mean to me. thank u for taking the time to share this w me. you are such an inspiration. i can’t wait to tattoo this tweet to my forehead. sending you lots of love & all things happy.”
Grande also said, “jimcarreyfan42 is a very grateful girl rn”.
Fans thought that the interaction between the stars was encouraging. It is important for people to find a support network, and it is heartwarming that Ariana and Carrey were able to find that with each other.
Carrey also opened up about his mental health journey. “There is not an experience of depression,” he explained.
“I had that for years, but now, when the rain comes, it rains, but it doesn’t stay. It doesn’t stay long enough to immerse me and drown me anymore.”
Hopefully, the stars see that there are still good people in the world and that they feel better. They are role models for many people, and it’s important that they take care of their health.
